Speed of Walk

How fast do you walk as usual?

How long does it take to your destination

You wouldn’t be able to tell from the photo, but I walk fast. Pretty fast. The only times I walk slowly are when I’m really feeling down, thinking about other things around me, or when I’m walking with more than two people. So I walk pretty fast. The reason is clear: I don’t wanna spend wasting my time on the way to my destination.

How much speed do you walk as usual?

Now, I’ve never actually measured how fast I’m going, but I listen to music while walking, so sometimes it depends on the music. Here, I’m focusing on the speed of the act of walking, rather than the speed produced by walking, in particular the speed at which you swing your limbs. The point is not “how many time does it take,” but rather “how fast is a move of limbs.”

Move Per Minute

So, what is the best speed for me? To make it easier to understand, I’ll show it in terms of the speed of the song (BPM). If I use an eight-beat rhythm as an example, I step out with my right foot on the first and third beats of a measure (where the bass drum comes in), and step out with my left foot on the second and fourth beats (where the snare comes in). (The order of left and right is just for me.) I use this timing as a basis. I have a habit of always matching my walking to the music, and if the BPM doesn’t suit me, I stop listening to that song. I always consider my walking speed and the tempo of a song as one of my criteria for choosing songs. …or so I think. So, I’ll explain how fast I walk using actual song titles and approximate BPMs as examples.

Yesterday

My favorite song by The Beatles. I think it’s about 90 BPM. But it’s way too slow for me. Maybe it’s good for a leisurely walk on the weekend, though.

Another one bites the dust

A well-known Queen classic. It’s also often used as a breakbeat in hip-hop. It’s around 110 BPM. This one is also a little slow for me. If it wasn’t a little faster, you wouldn’t be able to experience the pleasure of walking. I’m not excited.

Isn’t She Lovely

Songs in the Key of Life is one of my favorite 70s soul albums. This song is the opening number on side A of the second album. The reason this song feels so good is the BPM. It’s about 120. This speed is my best tempo right now. If I’m in a good mood, I can play it even faster.

Don’t know the reason why

So why does this speed feel good? I don’t know the exact reason. But I do know that it feels even better when it has a clearly defined beat, as is typical of dance music. Take Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean, for example.

The drums are solid. Around 118 BPM. A little slow but feels good. Also Apache by Incredible Bongo Band.

A great breakbeat song with a BPM of about 118. This one is also good. Another one is It’s Just Begun by Jimmy Castor Bunch.

A classic breakbeat song. This one has a BPM of 118. It feels great.

wanna be startin’ something faster

The songs I’ve chosen so far have the image of a holiday afternoon. I actually want a higher BPM. So the BPM of the song I’m about to introduce is exactly what I want.

Out of Sight

That’s so cool. Ooooooooohhhh Wooaiii!! Once again, it’s clear to see that Bruno Mars is one of his followers.

It’s around 128 BPM.

P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)

About 127 BPM. You can walk very beautifully and gracefully. When you’re in a good mood, you can walk quite a distance.

Step by Step

Ain’t it funky? Around 127 BPM? This one also naturally makes your foot move forward. Just step by step.

Baby Got Back

I don’t agree you like big b*** I prefer t**s… No, it doesn’t really matter.

About 127 BPM, I guess. This is also very suitable for walking.

how did you feel?

What do you think? However, when you walk, please do so in a way that does not bother those around you. Also, waving your hands while walking can be a nuisance to others, so please do this in places with fewer people around. I sometimes see this when people are going up stairs and waving their hands so much that they almost hit someone in the face. Please be careful.
